USA Gold Reserves

The US Gold Reserve is just over 8,000 tonnes - which is about 6% of the total gold ever mined.

US Gold Reserve is worth about $100 billion, or 1.5% of the US national debt. Nearly all of the large and many of the small placer gold mines currently operating in the US are in Alaska. Six modern large-scale hard rock mines operate in Alaska in 2008.. Alaska produces more gold (in 2007: 673,274 troy oz from lode mines, and 53,848 troy oz from placer deposits) than any state except Nevada.

Alaska produced a total of 40.3 million troy ounces of gold from 1880-2007 [worth $40 Billion]

Nevada currently produces 82% of all the gold mined in the United States. Most all of the gold in Nevada comes from large open pit mining and cyanide heap leaching recovery. The Comstock Lode produced 8.6 million troy ounces (267 tonnes) of gold through 1959, and the Eureka district produced 1.2 million troy ounces (37.3 tonnes)..
